soccer camp

Last week Carter visited his granparents in Evansville for a couple of days. While there, he joined his cousin, Aidan, for soccer camp. Aidan's mom is the women's head soccer coach at USI. In the summer Aunt Krissy and her college players hold youth soccer camp for Evansville kids. This year they had toddler day camps (9am-12pm). The kiddos spent most of their time running in the gym, kicking balls, climbing nets and taking lots of snack breaks. Carter had a great time and even found himself a little 5 year-old girlfriend.

peanut...not anymore!

Ryan had her 4 month check-up today. Our little peanut still has a peanut sized head, but she is not small anywhere else!
Weight: (76%) = 14lbs. 12oz.
Height: (98%) = 25 3/4 in.
Head: (28%)

Doctor said she is doing great. Ryan was very interactive and pleasent throughout the entire visit. She even showed off her new rolling skills. We've been given the all clear to start baby food. Wow, I can't believe we're to that stage already. Time is flying by!

4 months

Ryan Michele is 4 months old today. She is still one great baby! We often joke that she is our extra piece of luggage. She is happy to be totted anywhere and never makes a fuss about anything! She really IS a happy all day long. I hope we're not jinxing ourselves by saying that!

Ryan loves to play in her swing and on her activity mat. She is starting to play with a few small toys too. She is still practicing rolling over and we think she's pretty close. Actually, we've seen her roll from her stomach to her back before so we know it's just a matter of time before she is steamrolling around the room. Ryan also likes to sit up much more then I remember Carter wanting to. She loves to sit on people's laps and check out everything that's going on around her.

Peanut is a good sleeper. There's no pattern to her napping yet, but we can usually expect one or two long naps during the day in addition to a couple of cat naps. Ryan sleeps pretty well at night too. Unlike her brother who was still getting up 2-3 (or even 4) times a night at this stage, she usually gets up once to eat and that's it!

We are loving our (easy) sweet baby girl.

Indianapolis 500 - Month of May

There are so many festivities during the month of May in Indianapolis. Although we're not actually going to the race this year and my days of running the mini-marathon are over, we enjoyed some of the other race activites the city had to offer. Carter (and Ryan) went to the track and the 500 parade for the first time. Carter loved both outings. Ryan slept straight through them!

Summer is here

what we hear

At our house the two new phrases are "daddy do it" and "mine". Carter has become a daddy's boy lately and he says that Daddy has to do everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. For examples: Daddy get up with me in the morning, Daddy lay with me to watch a show, Daddy change my diaper, Daddy take me to the potty, Daddy put me in my booster chair, Daddy make my food, Daddy do my bath, Daddy read me books, Daddy brush my teeth, Daddy put me to bed, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy. It's pretty cute and I can't complain. Mommy is getting off pretty easy these days. Actually when I walked out of my bedroom this morning Carter shouted "No, No, No" and tried to push me back in. How can I argue with a toddler who wants Mommy to sleep in longer? Kyle is being such a good sport. This kid is wearing him out! He loves all the special attention from Carter, but I think he's ready to hear "mommy do it" soon.

Now that Ryan is starting to hold toys Carter has picked up the word "mine". I didn't realize there would be sharing problems so early in the game. It didn't occur to me that he would want the same toys as his 3 month old sister.

typical day

Carter sits on the potty at least 25 times a day. However, he still manages to pee and poop on the floor. Delightful! He also uses the potty as a stall tactic to buy extra time before bed. If he says he needs to go, then we go! However his new name might as well be chicken little!Ryan works on tummy time and plays with her toys. She is a very busy girl.
