Surprise!

I don't know how much of a surprise this is since Kyle and I can't keep a secret very well, but baby #2 is on the way!

It was certainly a surprise to us. A couple of weeks ago I started to feel sick and didn't really know why. Jokingly Kyle suggested that maybe I was pregnant. All the signs were there; loss of appetite, gagging, tiredness. So a quick home pregnancy test and Kyle's hunch was confirmed. Yikes!

I know in a previous post I said pregnancy wasn't possible right now because of my spondyloarthritius and my medication, but I spoke with my doctors and they are confident that the medication I was taking should not have any negative effect on the baby. I'm actually off all medication right now, but if my symptoms come back I may be put back on something.

I had my doctor appointment and ultrasound today. Baby looks great. We are 8 weeks and the due date is 2/24/10. That puts Carter and baby #2 almost two years apart (23 months to be exact).

So how am I feeling? Well, bad. I'm struggling with morning sickness, tiredness and apparently dehydration. If you see me in the next couple of days remind me to drink something. The nurse is threatening me with the dreaded IV. Like the last pregnancy my appetite is poor. I am again losing weight but as long as I keep up with my fluids the dr. is ok with it. Let's hope the next few weeks go quickly and I'm feeling like my old self again.

Where have we been?

I know it's been awhile since my last post. I wasn't out of the country or anything. We've just been rather busy at home. Our Internet was down last week, the kitchen is in the middle of a remodel and Aunt Robin and the rest of the Jacober family were in town from Colorado.


So what sort of fun activities did we do with our out-of-town visitors? Glad you asked!

Carter loved spending time with his cousins. We will all miss the Jocobers and hope to see them again soon!

Happy Anniversary

Today marks our 4 year anniversary. What a wonderful 4 years it's been!

15 months

Carter is 15 months old. He had his dr. checkup today and all is good. It's funny how the handout the doctor gives out describes him (and I'm sure all 15 month olds) to a T.

1. Mood shifts will become noticeable. The same toddler who is happy and smiling at everyone one day may be willful, stubborn and negative the very next day. Lets just say the doctor and nurse both joked that he was expressing himself like a "typical 15 month old" at his appointment. Yes, what a treat for everyone in the office!


2. Toddler enjoys chasing and being chased. He especially loves mild rough-housing. Dad does a good job of fulfilling his need of rough-housing.


3. Toddler likes to imitate adults by "reading" the newspaper and doing simple household chores like dusting or folding laundry. He also enjoys imitating coughing, sneezing and blowing his nose. I can hardly keep Carter away from the swiffer. I just point him in the direction of the floor that need to be cleaned and away he goes! Also today he burped, thought it was funny, and continued to fake burp several more times during his lunch. Classy.

We have been busy

The Meeks have been pretty busy lately. Our sister-in-law, Amy, came to town from Massachusetts. We threw her a baby shower. Due date for Lil' Meek is September 8th. We can't wait for the arrival!
Doesn't Amy look fantastic!We also went to a free concert in Fishers with some friends. It was a Beatles cover band and Carter had a WONDERFUL time.

And last but not least, we took a road trip to Michigan for the wedding of Chuck and Jennifer Lawhorn. Carter stayed with Nonna and her sisters near Detroit while Kyle and I enjoyed the wedding festivities. Congratulations Mr. and Dr. Lawhorn!!!

Carter had an overnight at Nonna's and Papa Big's house. These picutres are proof that he had no problem ditching his parents for 24 hours.
