Ryan saw an ENT doctor a couple of weeks ago because of her chronic ear infections. With a couple of simple tests the doctor said Ryan would need ear tubes. We assumed this recommendation would be coming since we tried prescription after prescription to clear them up and nothing seemed to work. The procedure itself is rather simple....the doctor clears out the fluid in her ears (which he describes as the boogery booger you could imagine) and then places tiny tubes in the ear to ventilate the ear. This limits bacteria from growing and allows the fluid to drain. The scary part of the surgery for the parents is putting the little kids under anesthesia.
Ryan went in early yesterday morning for the procedure. Big brother stayed at Nanna and Pappa Big's house so we didn't have to bother waking him up at 6am. Ryan charmed everyone in the surgery center. She was walking around and smiling to everyone. The doctor said the procedure was textbook and to expect a grouchy little girl when she woke up. Oh boy was she grouchy! We stopped back at the grandparents house to pick up Carter and little Ryan took at long nap on Nanna. That must have been the dose of medicine she needed because she was all smiles after that. Ryan was a wonderful little patient. We're all glad the procedure is behind us.
