6 Month Update

Carter had his 6 month check up today. We knew he was getting bigger and the official stats are in to prove it.

Weight: 20 lbs. 8 oz. (88%)

Height: 28 3/4 in. (96%)

So what is Carter up to these days?

Well, he can sit up on his own. We still put a barrier of pillows around him just in case he tips over but he does pretty well. He has 2 bottom teeth and he loves to have his teeth brushed. Carter says bob,bob,bob,bob and ta,ta,ta,ta. He is always blowing raspberries and making high pitched noises that we like to call singing. Carter loves interactive toys. His bongos and the v-tech nursery rhyme book from Jill and Milt Anderson are two of his favorites. (Thanks for the half-birthday gift, Andersons!) We started putting toys in the big bathtub with Carter and he thinks the squirt toys are pretty cool. Some have even graduated from bathtub toys to everyday toys. Baby food has been a big hit. So far he's liked everything we've given him. Carter loves pears and green beans the best. 6 months is a great age. He is doing so much more now and his personality is really coming out. For the most part he is a happy baby - always smiling. However, sleeping through the night has still been a challenge for us. At 4 months we initiated "operation tough love". We got him down to one feeding a night so we felt it was a success. Once he started teething he was up 2-3 times a night again so we have to start all over again. Augh! We are bound and determined to have this kid sleeping through the night before he is 7 months old. Stay tuned on our progress!

Wee Bit of Irish

The Meek trio packed up and headed to the Indianapolis Irish Fest on Saturday. It was a great day. We met up with the Bolles and Parker families. The dads drank pints of beer, the moms did some shopping and the babies played on the blanket. Here is a short video of Carter playing with his friend, Nate Bolles.

Happy Half Birthday

Carter turned 6 months on Saturday and he received a gift from the tooth fairy. Yep that's right, he cut his firth tooth. It's been a rough week, but baby Tylenol seems to be taking the edge off. Sorry no pics of his pearly white yet. He won't even let us take a quick peek in his mouth without screaming.

Short and Sweet

Since everyone in our house has been sick the last couple of days, this post will be short and sweet. For those who voted in the laundry basket poll, let me explain. I brought a case of beer home one afternoon (upon my husbands request). It's football season so it's important we have beer on hand these days. I was greeted at the door by my beer-requesting husband who was holding our baby. I asked my husband to get the beer from the car while I unloaded the rest of the groceries. Excited that I remembered to buy beer, Kyle decided to put Carter (who couldn't sit up on his own yet) in the closest and safest place: the laundry basket. Of course we both thought he was pretty cute sitting there so we had to take a picture. Really, the picture doesn't do the moment justice. If you voted that Kyle put Carter in the laundry basket to get beer (like almost all of you did), then you are correct. If you thought Carter's parents found putting him in the laundry basket cute, you are also correct.

Giggles

Carter giggles alot now. However, we're never able to capture it on video. Well, today is our lucky day! We got 9 seconds of Carter laughing. Enjoy!

So Carter is doing all sort of new and fun things now. He can sit on his own (for about 10 seconds before face planting into the carpet) and he will stand up while you hold him. Somehow we haven't taken a single picture of his new tricks. Instead we'll share a couple of random shots taken over Labor Day weekend.
