Great Weather, Great Fun

This weekend was beautiful in Indianapolis - sunny and 75-77 degrees. We took full advantage of the nice weather. Saturday there was an outside baby shower for Kristie Johnson. It was a fun afternoon talking about all things baby. She's having a baby girl and we can't wait. All of Carter's friends are boys so it will be nice to have a little girl in the mix.

Saturday night we put Carter in the stroller and walked to Marc and Sarah Ancel's house for a BBQ. We ate, drank and hung out with friends. Kyle played a round of corn hole. This is a pic of our friends' little girl checking out the corn hole set - so cute!

Sunday we spent the afternoon at Holiday Park (about 5 min. from our house). They have 3 miles of hiking trails and an awesome park. Carter got a kick out of walking around looking at the trees. He also loved laying in the grass.

Lets Eat!

Check out Carter. He is eating like a big boy! This is our first attempt at rice cereal. He took to it well. After a couple bites he was opening his mouth really wide and it seemed like more was actually making it in his mouth then on his bib. A few more days of bland rice cereal and then it's on to real food. Applesauce, bananas and peaches here we come!

Operation Tough Love: Part 2

We're happy to report Operation Tough Love was a success......at least so far. Last night Carter only got up once to eat (at midnight) and we didn't hear from him again until 6:30am. He's getting up a little earlier then he used to, but that's ok. He likes to take a cat nap with me during the Today Show before we start our day.

P.S. Congratulations to the Harpster Family. Jenn, Randy and their daughter Grace welcomed in a baby boy on Monday. Cooper Daniel Harpster - 8 lb.s 9 oz. We are so happy for you! Send pictures!!!!!!

Operation Tough Love

So we started Operation Tough Love two nights ago.

Night #1:

• Carter woke up at 11:00pm....Mom fed him.
• Carter woke up at 1:30am......Mom fed him again.
• Carter woke up at 4:30am.....Mom did NOT feed him.
• Carter cried for a hour and a half..... Mom cried for 30 minutes.
• Dad got no sleep.

Night #2:

• Carter woke up at 3:00am.....Mom fed him. Dad changed the wet crib sheets. (Apparently the new size diapers don't fit yet.)
• After changing Carter's wet jammys Mom pleaded with Carter to eat more before going back to sleep. She knows this will be the only feeding until morning.
• 3:30am-6:50am Carter cried some but not has much or as hard as the night before. Mom woke up several times, but didn't cry. Dad didn't wake up again.

The goal tonight is for Carter to fall asleep and stay asleep after his one feeding. Let's hope it works. Wish us luck.

4 Month Stats

Carter had a great dr. appointment today. The doctor and all the nurses were pleased to see what a "big" baby he has become. We've been given the all clear to start solid foods. We'll probably start in a couple of weeks when he shows more interest. Also, Mom was encouraged to be a little "tougher" at night. Yes, that means let Carter cry it out if he wakes up more then once. Currently Carter gets up 2 or 3 times during the night. This will be interesting. Dad may have to block the bedroom door. After watching him cry during his shots today Mom may not have the heart to start "operation tough love" tonight.

Now for the fun part - Carter's 4 month's stats:

Weight: 17 lbs. 12 oz. (89%)

Height: 25.75 inches (71%)

Head: 17 inches (68%)
