Happy Baby

Carter and Mr. Bird (also known as Mr. Red Bird) are great friends. Mr. Bird is the must have toy on Carter's car seat. He travels everywhere with Carter and our little guy loves it when he gets to spend time with with him out of the car seat.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Carter went to his first baseball game last week. He had a fun afternoon at the Indianapolis Indians game with his friends Jonah Ragsdale (who is 1 week older then Carter) and James Kelker (15 mo. old). Other then the sudden rain shower during the middle of the game it was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Fearrin Fest 2008

Every 2 years the Fearrin siblings and parents come together for a family reunion (better known as Fearrin Fest). Fearrin Fest 2008 was a 4 day Carnival Cruise. Unfortunately we couldn't go because Carter was too young to take on the ship. However, we still made the trip to Florida to meet up with most everyone after the cruise. We spent 4 days in Treasure Island (Clearwater/St. Pete area). It was great to relax and spend time with family.

This trip was Carter's first time on a plane. He did pretty well. He only cried during the landing on the way to Florida. Coming home he ate, slept and cooed the entire time. Traveling with a baby was actually easier then we thought it would be.

Carter went swimming for the first time in Florida. He swam in the ocean and the pool. He liked the ocean because it was really warm - like bath water, but he didn't like the waves very much. The pool was a little cold for him but he seem to enjoy floating around for short periods of time. Carter didn't instantly love swimming, but we imagine by the end of summer he will be swimming like a little fish.

Carter will lay in his crib and talk to these guys endlessly. They must be pretty funny because Carter is always smiling and laughing when he's with them.

Mr. Bear
Mr. Bear keeps Carter company during diaper changes. He loves to hug Mr. Bear and eat Mr. Bear's feet. This stuffed animal is quickly becoming Carter's favorite toy.

Meeks In Town

Uncle Kevin and Aunt Amy were in town for the wedding and met Carter for the first time. Carter loved all the quality time he spent playing with them while they stayed at our house.

While they were in town the rest of the Meek family drove up from Evansvlle for a day at the Indianapolis Zoo.

Cousin Aidan loved the sharks. Carter loved anywhere there was shade and all the buildings that had air conditioning.

Mr. and Mrs. Simon Hunter

Congratulations to Simon and Shannon Hunter who got married this weekend. We are so happy for them. The Hunters are now in Aruba for their honeymoon...hard to believe it's already been 3 years since we were there for our honeymoon!

The wedding was in downtown Indy so leaving Carter for a couple of hours was a piece of cake. Grandma Fearrin had babysitting duties while Mom and Dad had a night out on the town.

Rain, Rain Go Away...

We were hit pretty hard by the storms last Friday. Our power went out at 10:30pm Friday night and didn't come back on until Tuesday afternoon. A big thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Fearrin for letting us stay at their house while we waited. In addition to the power being out, we suffered some damage.

A tree in the yard split but thankfully it fell into the yard and away from the house.

Also our basement flooded. We didn't realize it until Saturday morning, but we both had to work so the clean up effort didn't begin until after 4:00 on Saturday. There was at least 9 inches of water we had to pump out. We rented a gas powered pump since our sump-pump wasn't running (who knew we didn't have a battery backup!). To say the very least, the water pump was incredibly difficult to use and we finally got all the water out Sunday evening. Of course more came back in Monday. Augh! So it was another trip back to the rental company to rent a generator to get the sump-pump running again.

Taking care of a 2 month old baby while trying to save the basement was the most difficult part of the entire weekend. We can't thank the Claps family, Nicole Kelker and my mom enough for the hours they spent babysitting Carter. THANK YOU!!!!

We now have a dry basement. A water restoration company came in and hauled away the big stuff like mattresses and furniture that couldn't be saved. Everything else is in our garage and piled throughout the house. We also had to throw away everything in our fridge and freezer including 5 weeks worth of expressed breast milk. I'm sure all nursing mothers out there understands how frustrating that is for me.
